Praying is an interesting thing. From the outside, it looks like you are talking to yourself, maybe inside it feels that way too! But what is really going on is far from that; it’s a conversation with you’re heavenly Father. Sometimes it feels like your prayers aren’t being answered and never will, I have struggled with not showing faith in God when he hasn’t answered a prayer when I want Him to. But God knows best, thank goodness!
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:11
Your prayer are not forgotten by God, just because He hasn’t answered it doesn’t mean He doesn’t care. Maybe He is answering your prayer in a way you didn’t expect, the Lord wants what is best for you and most of the time we don’t truly know what’s best for us! Maybe your prayer won’t be answered until you have left this world and are in heaven with God, your prayers are still in motion even if your time on earth is done. But when the day comes that you see a prayer answered, it is a beautiful thing.
I was having a rough day on Saturday (I go to church with my boyfriends family on Saturday nights.) Before service started I walked towards the bathroom but heard someone calling my name. Now I go to one of the top 5 largest churches in the country, Southeast Christian Church. So for someone to pick you out of the crowd and call for you, and you hear it is something of a miracle! It happened to be one of my volunteers from when I worked at the church. You know that feeling you get when you haven’t seen someone in months? You get filled with this joy and refreshed right on the spot? This is what happened when I saw this woman. She asked me how I was doing and I asked her the same. It was answer I never expected. You see in January we had some tough conversations about her struggle with her eating disorder and I just knew she wasn’t ready to give it up. I had prayed for her week after week to be healed and for God to set her free from it just as He did for me, but I never saw any fruit from the prayer. But she informed me this past weekend that she was done with it, she was working out and eating right instead of relying on not eating at all. Not only did God heal her in this way, He was moving in her families life (another subject I had prayed about dealing with this woman.)
God works in beautiful ways. I am sure I am not the only one that has prayed these things for this specific woman, but God takes all prayers in, we just have to have faith that He hears us. Even when matters seem so hopeless, have faith that God will hear you and move when the moment is right.
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
